The single most important thing is to get the word to the people of this Metropolis and encourage them to voice his/her opinions about what has been going on since Metropolitan Evangelos was elevated “by his peers” almost 3 years ago. Unfortunately, we can no longer rely on Parish Councils to properly represent parishioners in matters concerning sensitive issues involving the Metropolitan. They openly admit that they are afraid to approach him for fear of "getting him upset." What kind of logic is this? Is this what it's come to, that we now must rely on the personal feelings of parish council members who lack the intestinal fortitude to stand up this man? Stewards are not and should not be beholding to parish councils who are not representative of their parishes. If you can't take the pressure or your health prevents you from fighting the fight, then step down and let someone who can take charge.

Metropolitan Kourounis is a human being, not God. He is supposed to be "loving and spiritual". Is this how the "leader" of an entire Metropolis acts and treats, most importantly his priests but the members of "his Metropolis"? Being arbitrary and capricious is not what a Metropolitan is supposed to be but if you speak to people throughout this Metropolis, or simply read comments on this site, it’s obvious that Evangelos believes himself to be an exalted ruler rather than a Spiritual Leader.

We have a shortage of priests in this Metropolis. Ever wonder why?

It is the duty of each and every steward (and Parish Council members singly and collectively) to vehemently support and come to aid of their priest, provided the priest has not committed an act that could be considered immoral or contrary to the canons of the church especially when the parish wants loves and wants him. “Not liking the priest” or not having the motivation or just being afraid of the Metropolitan is not an excuse for any Parish Council or it’s members not to take swift and decisive action in support of their priest.

Get the word out! Do not be afraid to do the right thing!

BTW, for those of you who got the weekend KYRIKA (Greek Language edition) there was a quarter page ad advertising Evangelos' upcoming visit to St. Andrew's parish. You'll probably see one next week advertising an upcoming visitation to St. Barbara's in Toms River. Then there will be St. Nicholas... our Metropolitan is quite a little profit center.

WHO PAYS FOR THESE ADVERTISEMENTS? The parishes do. Maybe it is time for some presidents and parish council members to say stop, money is short, and we don't need to put out for advertisements that probably don't bring any people anyway. Did the priests authorize the ads? Were they under pressure from Evangelos to put them in? Probably yes. Well, the priest has to say "no", but MAINLY the president and Council have to back up the priest and say "no, we are not paying for it". And when Evangelos asks, the Council can speak up. I can't believe councils are letting him get away with this.

What Evangelos is doing is extortion. And his benefit is support from a biased newspaper! And when he asks for a gratuity for visiting a church...why what a degredation to the high state of the clergy, especially a hierarch. Gratuities are to be freely given and the amount given decided by the donor.

If he asks for a gratuity to come to the parish, tell him to stay home. We can pray without him. In peace.

Kalami.net has posted a link to this site. Don't expect any help from the Kyrika-- Evangelos has the Greek paper in his pocket. They take dictation from him. Send kalami.net your complaints. At least they will be posted in Greece as well where Evangelos cares about how he is perceived!

You never heard of Harry Pappas? Google "the life and times of harry pappas" and you'll find out more than you ever wanted. It will make you hold on to your wallet tighter when you are around him. He usually sits in the back of the church reading a magazine during the service. You can't miss him, he is a bloated slob.

UNBELIEVEABLE....It's so funny that I've been going to this church for years and I don't know who these people are.....

I recommend that you call the church and request a copy of the minutes once they are published.
